Different Indian Gov Scheme Connected With Aadhaar Card

Aadhaar card sponsored by Government of India aims to become the base identification tool for the residents of India. Several schemes of central and state governments are connected with Aadhaar card or would be connected within the next few months to come if everything goes as planned. Initially at least a couple of schemes of government have been earmarked for linking with Aadhaar card are LPG and Bank Account of the consumers.

Linking of schemes with Aadhaar card aims at linking the new and DBT bank accounts compulsory for all India, especially for those consumers having LPG in their names. The Direct Transfer Benefit scheme linked with LPG aims to make the use of Aadhaar card mandatory for the consumers having LPG number in their names.

Other schemes that are attached or linked with Aadhaar card or are planned to be linked include

  • Bank transactions thru micro-ATM all over the country. It is also planned to make the use of Aadhaar card mandatory.

  • Use of Aadhaar card for mobile SIM card, passport, and provident fund schemes for the entire country shall be allowed though made optional.

  • Another scheme that is likely to be attached to the Aadhaar Card connection is the NREGA worksite attendance in phases throughout the country.

  • Some other schemes where the use and linking of Aadhaar card could be attendance of school staff, salary, wages, payments, and food securities, Kerosene subsidy, Janani Suraksha Yojna, Social security, old age pension,

  • While Aadhaar card is a centrally sponsored scheme, it has been adopted by several states in full or in part. Some of the states have made use of Aadhaar card for certain schemes compulsory and for other schemes optional. Government of India had aimed to introduce the use of Aadhaar card mandatory for LPG users. However, the Supreme Court of India clamped a ruling stating that use of Aadhaar card is not necessary for LPG users and for giving them subsidies.
Due to such decision by the Supreme Court of India the scheme that was to be introduced with effect from the first day of December 2013 with grace period up to 28th February 2014 has been stalled for the time being.
