How to Apply for Aadhaar Card Online

Concept of Aadhaar card sponsored by Government of India was something akin to the social security number of United States Government. The basic objective was the same; to provide the residents of the country with unique identity number. Most well informed citizens were conscious about the Aadhaar card and everyone wanted to register and obtain it.

With the rapid strides made by computers and Internet in the recent years, almost everyone wanted to register for Aadhaar card online and download the same. But many did not know how to accomplish the task. However the urgency was always there because of the decision of government to make it mandatory document sometimes or other.

Applying for the Aadhaar card is easy because the Unique Identification Authority India (UIDAI) has already opened a number of centers for enrollment of Aadhaar card aspirants. People wanting the card obtains form and with it a specific day for enrollment. They have to go for enrollment and undergo other security checks on that day. In case someone is not able to enroll on the assigned date, he or she can still get enrolled by visiting the nearest center. The initial rush, as it was also the case of Voter photo identity cards in the mid 1990s introduced by the Election Commission of India has already subsided. And now one can also log on to the UIDAI website and download the forms and apply online with copies of requisite documents.

The agency responsible for implementing the Aadhaar Card has several enrollment centers across the country, and the procedure is hassled with long queues to acquire the form. Along with the form, the resident will be assigned a specific day for enrolling. This day can be within the next week or even months away. You then have to go and submit the Aadhaar application form along with other required security checks. Initially introduced for select states, the facility is now available all over India. On fixing the appointment, an appointment slip is issued with a token number with a scheduled date that can be rescheduled if necessary.

The Process

Process of enrollment is the same as in case of online enrollment as the candidate has to go through the webcam, finger scanning and all essential details. Downloading e-Aadhaar can be done from the e-Aadhaar page (https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/) and by feeding in details like the EID number, date, and time, resident name and area pin code. There would be a mobile number check and after which the consumer will get an OTP or one-time-password. Keying in the password consumer will be able to download electronic version of the Aadhaar card.
