What is Aadhaar UIDAI Project

The concept of Aadhaar card and Unique Identification of India (UIDAI) is providing identity to every resident of India and it is visualized that over the passage of time it will be recognized and accepted by all the service providers in India. Each resident will be given a unique number that will act as the identification number for them across the country and for all service providers. It will form the basic as well as universal identity and an infrastructure for all these purposes.

Unique Identification of India (UIDAI) has been entering into partnership with various Registrars across the country for enrollment of residents. Such Registrars include banks, public sector undertakings, telecom companies, and gas supplying companies among others.


Objective of Aadhaar Card



Basic objective of preparing and issuing Aadhaar card is to create an environment of increased trust among the public and private agencies on one hand and the residents of the country on the other. This will also spare the service providers from repeated exercises relating to Know Your Customers (KYC) processes and checks for providing services. Since all residents are likely to have Aadhaar identity within a specified time span, there will be no denial of services due to lack of identity for these people. It will work for everything like obtaining bank account, LPG connection, or getting a passport.

Objective of the project thus is not only making enrollment hassle free but also the authentication and use of Aadhaar card easier.
