Important Documents For Aadhaar Card

For preparation of identity cards some basic information is always required. There are also some documents that are required for enrollment in and preparation of Aadhaar Card.

Documents Required for Registration

Followings are the documents that are required for registration for Aadhaar Card generation.



  • Filled out enrollment form as prescribed by UIDAI for Aadhaar Card (original)
  • Documents for proof of identity (original/ attested photocopies)
  • Documents for proof of address (original/ attested photocopies)
  • Documents for proof of date of birth (original/ attested photocopies)


  • Documents for Proof of Identity


    As many as 18 documents are there and any one of them or more can be the proof of identity of a person. These are; passport, PAN Card, Ration Card, Voter ID card, Driving license, Photo ID card issued by Government or Public Sector Undertakings, NREGS job card, identity cards issued by recognized educational institutions, Arms license, Bank ATM Debit/Credit card; Pensioner’s photo card, Freedom Fighter photo card, Kisan Photo passbook, CGHS photo card, ECHS photo card, Address card with name and photo issued by the postal department, Certificate of identity issued by Gazetted officers or Tahasildar in letterhead, and disability IT card issued by authorities.


    Documents for Prove of Address


    Among the documents that can work as the proof of address are the followings. Passport, Bank statement or passbook, Postal Account statement or passbook, voter ID, ration card, Driving license, Insurance policy, Photo ID card issued by Government or Public Sector Undertakings, NREGS job card, identity cards issued by recognized educational institutions, Arms license, Bank ATM Debit/Credit card; Pensioner’s photo card, Freedom Fighter photo card, Kisan Photo passbook, CGHS photo card, ECHS photo card, Address card with name and photo issued by the postal department, Certificate of identity issued by Gazetted officers or Tahasildar in letterhead, and disability IT card issued by authorities.

    In addition; the followings can also be addition proof of address if they are not older than three months.

    Electricity bills, water bills, Telephone landline bills, property tax receipts, credit card statements, signed photo letter from banks.


    Documents to Prove Date of Birth


    To prove the DOB, birth certificate, SSLC book certificate, matriculation certificate, passport and certificate of date of birth issued by a Group A Gazetted Officer will work.


    Documents to Prove Relationship


    Relationship to Head of Family can be established using PDS card, MNREGA job card, CGHS/ ECHS/ ESIC medical cards, pension card, Army canteen card, and passport. Other family entitlement documents like birth certificate issued by Birth Registrar, or Local Self Government authorities like Municipalities NACs and other State or Central Government authorities will also be accepted.
